Victorian High Country Off Road Caravan & Trailer Tour (8 days/nights)

NATURETOURISMCERTnew

The world of four wheel drive travel is ever evolving. In the early days (remember I established Great Divide Tours in 1990) all my tours were camping style trips. At one stage I think I spent more time in my swag than in my bed at home! Then there was a surge in the sale of off-road trailers and as a result in the 2000’s we introduced off road trailer friendly 4WD trips. From 2010 onwards I saw the need for fully accommodated tours to remote parts of Australia, so this style of trip was added to my tour calendar.

Now in the 2020’s there has been further evolution with the introduction of large semi off road capable caravans becoming the go to item for many. So, it would seem only natural that I explore the possibility of offering tours that this type of transport can participate in.

The Victorian High Country is one area that can cater for all these modes of transport and tours, from camping to off road trailers and even our very popular fully accommodated tours of the high country. This is why I have chosen the High Country to offer our first fully fledged off road caravan style trip.

The format is quite simple really, use base camps in the neighbouring High Country towns and explore the fabulous trails of the High Country in your 4wdrive, returning each night to the comfort of your van (or trailer). So here it is, our off road caravan/trailer friendly trips for 2025, by the way you can still join this trip if you have a smaller camper trailer, tent or swag.

During this 8 day tagalong we will visit all the must see locations of the fabulous Victorian High Country including Craig’s Hut, King Hut, Bluff Hut, Bindaree Falls, Sheepyard Flat, Mt Skene, Licola, Howitt High Plains and Hut, the infamous Zeka Track and Wonnangatta Valley, the Pinnacles Fire Tower, Dargo and its famous hotel, Talbotville and the 25 river crossings on the aptly named Crooked River, the old gold mining town of Grant and, not to be missed, the best view and drive in the whole High Country to the top of Mt Blue Rag.
