Great Divide Tours was founded in 1990 by Vic Widman — a passionate 4WD enthusiast, travel journalist, and author. For over 35 years, we've led thousands of Australians into the country's most remote and spectacular landscapes, safely and confidently.

Vic is the author of Travelling The Outback and the CSIRO-published 4WD Driving Skills — the definitive Australian 4WD training manual. His expertise and passion underpin everything we do.

We offer everything from day trips out of Sydney to extended outback safaris — and a world-class training facility near Braidwood for those who want to build real skill behind the wheel.

Tag-along tours

Join a guided convoy to some of Australia's most iconic destinations — Cape York, the Simpson Desert, the Kimberley, Canning Stock Route, Arnhem Land, Flinders Ranges, and much more.

Driver training

Nationally accredited 4WD courses at our purpose-built Braidwood facility — Introductory, Advanced, Camper Trailer, Corporate, and Individual training. RTO No. 45586.

Corporate training

Specialised off-road training for corporate fleets, defence, essential services, and heavy vehicle operators — including ADF, Essential Energy, and Transgrid.

Day & weekend trips

Closer to home? We run day and weekend trips out of Sydney to Stockton Beach, the Blue Mountains, Barrington Tops, the Brindabellas, and more.

Getting there

Our exclusive training property sits on the outskirts of Braidwood in the Southern Highlands of NSW — purpose-built terrain in a stunning natural bushland setting.

Camping on-site is included in your training fee. Bunkhouse available at $40/person per night. Fuel, meals, and supplies available in Braidwood.
